Reet Singh

Reet Singh is an eye surgeon with a passion for creative writing. She has published several scientific papers in medical journals. These papers, based on cold, hard facts, are quite different from the romance she loves to write; however, they have prepared her for one of the challenges associated with writing fiction, viz. how to communicate with an unseen audience and especially how to hold their interest right to the last word.

'Scorched by His Fire' is her first published piece of romantic fiction, and is courtesy of Mills and Boon® India's Passions Contest which she won in 2013. 'The Cure was Love', also from Mills and Boon® India, released later, in 2014. She is currently working on a novel tentatively titled ‘No Escape from Love’.

She has written poems for medical humanities journals and finds that writing about an experience is a way to deal with loss and suffering; while her poems relate to themes far removed from romance, there is a parallel - the pain of a broken heart is often as bad as that of any physical illness.

Her other offering is a alien adventure book for middle graders - ‘The Zaken Takeover’ - which she co-authored along with her son (who was eleven years old at the time of writing it). It is available on Amazon, for Kindle. Her stories have been published in ‘A Second Helping of Chicken Soup for the Indian soul’ and in ‘Chicken Soup for the Soul: Indian Doctors’.
